Magnificent and big box with wooden sculptured mouse, which results from Ivory Coast

(Closed) height: 50 cms (Box: 28 cm + lid: 22 cm)

It is about a jar the inside of which is divided in the horizontal by a leaky floor of an opening. The soothsayer placed one or several mice on an empty stomach in the lower room(chamber) and arranged in the upper floor of twigs, thorns of porcupine, scales of tortoise and a little food in a carefully studied order. Once the closed jar, the soothsayer recited his incantations; the starving mouse soared ausitôt in the top to eat the food there and, making it, modified the arrangement(measure) of objects the soothsayer did not have more than to interprêter...
